Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Begins assigned clinics on time.


  • Works with medical staff providers to see patients with the goal for the fellow to manage up to 4 patients per ½ day clinic.
  • Works with nursing, care managers and front office staff accommodate urgent care/walk- in patients


  • Reviews laboratory test results, imaging reports, consultant notes, and other reports pertaining to assigned and cross coverage patient panel.


  • Authorizes refills for medications.


  • Works with medical staff providers to complete diagnosis forms, applications for SSI, Medi-Cal and HRSA forms in a timely manner.


  • Reviews charts and performs peer reviews as assigned.



  • When referring patients for hospital admission, provides up to date progress note, problem list, medication list, laboratory flow sheet to ER and/or admitting physician.


  • Schedules vacation time or conference leave at least 30days in advance, and assists in making arrangements for own coverage. When other providers are off, assists with provider coverage as needed.


Participation in AHF Meetings/Committees

  • Attends clinic all-staff meeting (monthly)
  • Attends California Regional Medical Staff meetings (every other month)
  • Attends and participates in Case Conference/Journal Club meetings (monthly)
  • Attends HIV Intercity Rounds (Optional)

Education and/or Experience

Doctorate degree (M.D., D.O.); Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine; Board Certified/Eligible in Infectious Diseases.


Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret healthcare related documents. Ability to comply with HIPAA requirements. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, managers, etc.


Mathematical Skills

Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.




Reasoning Ability

Highest Skills: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) and its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.


Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications

  • Sensitivity to issues surrounding HIV and AIDS.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to provide coverage at other AHF sites upon request.


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • State Specific Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
  • Valid DEA certificate without restrictions
  • Current CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) License required.
